Home Assistant External Converters, ZHA Quirks & Compatibility

This page is a practical compatibility guide for using EyZEE Zigbee devices with Home Assistant, ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT. We are actively testing our switches, dimmers, downlights, GPOs and sensors, and updating this page as compatibility is confirmed and new converters or quirks become available.

Each product listing below includes the Zigbee model, manufacturer reference, supported features, and whether it works out of the box or may require a custom Zigbee2MQTT external converter or ZHA quirk. This is especially useful for advanced users, electricians, installers and Home Assistant enthusiasts who want reliable local smart home control in Australia.

Many of our products are based on Tuya Zigbee hardware, so support can vary depending on the exact firmware version, manufacturer variant and production batch. Where standard support is limited, we publish our own compatibility resources to help expose more features and improve real-world performance in HAOS.

Choosing Zigbee Devices for Home Assistant

Home Assistant is one of the most flexible smart home platforms available for users who want local control, strong automation options and broad device compatibility. If you are searching for Home Assistant compatible Zigbee switches in Australia, Zigbee downlights for Home Assistant, Tuya Zigbee devices, ZHA quirks or Zigbee2MQTT external converters, this page is designed to help you check support before you buy or install.

In general, ZHA is the easiest way to get started because it is built directly into Home Assistant. Zigbee2MQTT is often preferred by advanced users because it can expose more device features and allows custom external converters for unsupported or partly supported products. For some Tuya-based devices, especially multi-gang switches, dimmers and special variants, a converter or quirk may be needed to unlock the best functionality.

Our EyZEE range includes Zigbee smart switches, dimmer switches, double GPO power points, downlights and sensors that are designed for real-world Australian smart home installations. We continue testing with Home Assistant OS, ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT so this page can serve as a living compatibility reference for customers, installers and Home Assistant hobbyists.

Helpful notes before you start

  • Compatibility can vary between firmware versions, Tuya variants and production batches.
  • Some devices may work fully in Zigbee2MQTT but still be under testing in ZHA.
  • Multi-gang switches and advanced features such as LED backlight control or decoupler mode may require custom support.
  • A stable Zigbee mesh and the right coordinator make a big difference to performance in Home Assistant.

If you are new to Zigbee and Home Assistant, it is worth taking the time to choose the right coordinator, place powered Zigbee devices strategically to strengthen the mesh, and confirm whether your preferred setup uses ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. This helps avoid pairing issues, missing features and unstable behaviour later on.
